Little was known about the La Salle Hat Co. promotion from 1936 until a set sealed inside the original envelope was discovered several years ago. They were issued in the Philadelphia area to stimulate purchases of the company’s hats and were handed out to customers at hat stores. The set is complete at 8 pieces. When they can be found they are typically found in terrible technical condition, usually due to their thin stock and the propensity of hat retailers to stamp the backs with their establishments’ names. Offered here is an SGC 84 version of Hall of Fame inductee Kid Lavigne. The card is the best example graded by SGC, with two at this level from a total population of 6 as of February 2015.
