A very difficult set issued around 1931-32 and best known for cards of Jim Thorpe, it is not known how many cards are in the issue. The set features black and white images against brightly colored backgrounds, with an occasional scarce variation featuring color images and contrasting color backgrounds. The same art was used to create at least four different sets of strip cards, some of which offered elsewhere in this auction. Although all cards from the set are not easy to acquire, certain color combinations are considered rare single prints [marked on the checklist as “SP”]. Range in grade from GD to EXMT, averaging VGEX. The lot offered here includes:
