Rodine Baseball Hall of Fame Premium Series 1, compliments of the American Chemical Paint Company. Featrues Lefty Grove, Wee Willie Keeler, George Sisler, Honus Wagner and Babe Ruth. Measure 8 X 10. numerous tape marks on edges and ink swirl.
Rodine was a division of the American Chemical Paint Company that commissioned and issued a set of oversized baseball Hall of Fame postcards. The artist, Jerry Doyle, was an editorial cartoonist in Philadelphia and this was a likely freelance commercial project for the paint maker. The postcards were issued in the mid-1950s and are rare. Only two different postcards have surfaced, one postmarked in 1954, hence the date for the issue. A legend on one of the postcards (#4) states that a large print suitable for framing is available on request. The few prints that have surfaced are all of postcard #1 with Babe Ruth, Honus Wagner, Lefty Grove, George Sisler and Willie Keeler. Ironically, postcard #1 itself has not been seen.
